Action Plan for Social Entrepreneurship

The project The proposal for the project “Action Plan for Social Entrepreneurship - Cross border Action Plan for the Development and Operation of an Executive Mechanism for the Support and Promotion of Social Entrepreneurship in the context of the Social Economy and Social Innovation” was submitted in the framework of the 2nd Call for Proposals under the European Cooperation Programme “Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020”, Priority Axis 4, Specific Objective 9: To expand social entrepreneurship in the cross border area.

The project "Action Plan for Social Entrepreneurship" was approved for funding by the Decision of the 3^rd meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Programme "INTERREG V-A Greece – Bulgaria 2014-2020" on 16-3-2017 and is an initiative of the Region of Central Macedonia, where he is also the Lead Partner.Its corporate structure consists of a total of five (5) partners:

• Democritus University of Thrace - Department of Economics - Special Research Reserve Account - PB3

• Municipality of Yakoruda – PB4

• Faculty of Arts, South-West University “Neofit Rilski”, Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) – PB5

Greece and Bulgaria are two neighboring countries that are united by a rich past. Since the end of the 1990s, an effort has been made to develop closer cooperation over the years with the contribution of the INTERREG "Greece-Bulgaria" Program.
The central idea behind the "INTERREG" Programs is that countries deal with different issues that are easier to resolve if they work with neighboring countries, rather than with everyone remaining limited at their borders. The purpose of the Interreg programs is to bring the neighboring peoples closer together. This particular Investment Priority aims in supporting the Social Economy, which is a new and constantly evolving form of economy in both countries.
